Sussex Funeral Services in Selsey can help you with the necessary funeral arrangements after losing a loved one.
We have a wide range of choices from the more straightforward ‘no hassle’ choices to our conventional funeral services. We aim to fulfill your needs.
Our ‘No-Fuss’ Funerals and ‘Direct Cremation’ or Burial’ options differ from the traditional funeral option in a significant way. These easy alternatives give you the chance to have a remembrance or special ceremony at a future date.
Not only is direct cremation simple, but it is also be private and financially beneficial. This is more affordable for many people. We continue to maintain the highest standards, we continue to ensure that dignity is upheld for your loved one, and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner possible. The ethos of our company is described as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice.’
The choice of ‘direct cremation’ will benefit those who may be worrying about affordability or want a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.
Throughout this time our we will be there for you to help you, while maintaining dignity and discretion. The direct cremation means a simple service that involves us collecting your loved one from wherever they died, bringing back to our premises and keeping them safe until the day of their cremation. On that day, we simply transport them, in a fitting coffin, to the crematorium of our choosing, which is typically Woodvale Crematorium. The cremation then takes place on that day with the cremated remains usually being ready for you to collect by the next working day.
Such a humble send-off is suitable for those who have chosen to be cremated without a service, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have verbally relayed it to their loved ones, perhaps following, for example, donation of their body organs.
It may be that a direct cremation is the most appropriate for financial reasons, either because the person who died did not prepare financially for their own demise or indeed the person left to arrange is not in a position to be able to pay for a traditional service. It could be that the deceased had no relatives or friends who had survived them or be able to attend due to distance and, in this situation, a conventional service may be unsuitable if a direct cremation would seem more suitable.
£799 plus expenses (Cremation Charge plus Doctor Payment if applicable) – this choice provides the following:
Sure, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ is also called the Direct to Graveside’ service. A similar service, the dead is taken to a graveyard and buried, without a service, rather than being taken to the crematorium.
Burial choice price begins at £1,000 plus disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option covers the following:
The idea of the direct cremation or burial was for little or No Fuss for both parties, with a view to keeping things to a minimum and in particular to keep costs to a minimum. We find that very few people actually want to go through any viewing of the deceased. Maybe 1 in 10 might wish to come and see their loved one.
In this case, we can provide personal care of your loved one for an additional fee, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in their own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to preserve by embalming or use unnecessarily intrusive therapies unless we are required by law or formal request).
Getting back to the idea of little or No Fuss for both parties, and again, with a view to keeping things to a minimum, including costs, we usually ask for clients to collect the ashes themselves from the crematorium. Or, instead, they may opt to scatter the ashes in the memorial garden at the crematorium.
There is the choice that the ashes can be shipped to your door at an extra cost. A variety of options are available when it comes to urns. We usually advise clients to look on the internet, given the choice of available urns, and we feel that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, given individual tastes, and since there is generally no rush to do so, you can do all this at your own convenience from the comfort of your home.
Just call us.
We can normally do it all over the phone, followed up by email – we can video conference with you and if necessary, we could consider visiting you locally, in your own home. We can’t do this for everybody, but we do so if you’re having trouble getting out and leaving your home. But start by calling us to discuss your requirements.
Our caring and ethical method of planning a funeral or cremation is personally maintained by our funeral director, Philip, and his Wife Sallie, both of whom aim to provide you with a package that suits your needs completely. Sussex Funeral Services are very proud to offer transparent pricing to uphold our ethical and moral codes of conduct. It is our belief that this transparency is incredibly necessary, providing a distinct alternative to any of the other funeral firms. Sussex Funeral Services is one of the few Brighton Funeral homes who wish you to be aware of all our funeral arrangements in the spirit of integrity and transparency.
Our direct burial and cremation funeral options are easy and dignified, providing you and your family a more affordable option. The reviews from our customers are of great importance to us.
We want to share these with you.
“Our very close family member died in Hove on 21 February. We went to the website to find a respectable funeral director in Hove, as we reside in the north of England.
Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip was our pick. By the time we arrived in Hove, all the preparations for the burial had been done to our satisfaction, and all other support we wanted was of a very high quality. On a really sad day you supported us, allowing us the chance to recognise and support a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and dignity. — K. Sherlock.
