In Heyshott-Green, Sussex Funeral Services will assist you in making the appropriate funeral arrangements for your loved one’s death.
We have a variety of options from our traditional funerals to the simplest, ‘no fuss’ options that will hopefully fit your needs.
Our ‘No-Fuss’ Funerals and ‘Direct Cremation’ or Burial’ options differ from the traditional funeral option in a significant way. These easy alternatives give you the chance to have a remembrance or special ceremony at a future date.
Not only is direct cremation a simple opportunity but it is also private and worry-free. For many people it is more affordable. We still perform to the highest standards; we also guarantee that your loved one’s dignity will be upheld and we are work in the most respectful manner. Our company philosophy is defined as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’
Our ‘direct cremation’ option will be more favourable to those who worry about affordability or wish to have a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.
Throughout , our sensitive staff will support you while upholding dignity and discretion. The direct cremation means a simple service that involves us collecting your loved one from wherever they died, bringing back to our premises and keeping them safe until the day of their cremation. On that day, we simply transport them, in a fitting coffin, to the crematorium of our choosing, which is typically Woodvale Crematorium. The cremation then takes place on that day, with the cremated ashes usually ready for you to collect on the next day.
Such a modest departure is appropriate to those who have elected to be cremated without service, by their own choice and either recorded in will or dying wishes, or who may have communicated it orally to their loved ones, perhaps after the donation of their body organs.
It may be that for financial reasons a direct cremation is better suited, either the person who has died didn’t prepare financially for their own demise or indeed the person left to arrange is not in a position to be able to pay for a traditional service. It may be that the deceased person did not have any relatives or friends who outlived them , or be able to attend due to distance in this case, it will be inappropriate to provide a conventional service when direct cremation would seem more fitting.
£799 plus expenses (Cremation Charge plus Doctor Payment if applicable) – this choice provides the following:
Sure, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ is also called the Direct to Graveside’ service. The deceased is taken to a cemetery and buried, without a ceremony, rather than being taken to the crematorium.
Burial option price starts at £1,000 plus disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option comes with the following:
For all sides, the notion of immediate cremation or burial is to reduce fuss, avoid issues and, in particular, keeping costs to a minimum. We found out that not many people would really want to view the deceased. Maybe 1 in 10 may wish to come and see their loved one.
In this case, for an additional charge, we are in a position to give personal care to your loved one, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to embalm or use unnecessarily intrusive treatments unless we are required to do so by legislation or by formal request).
Returning to the idea of little or no fuss for both sides, and again, to keep things to a minimum, including expenditures, we usually ask clients to collect the ashes from the crematorium themselves. Alternatively, they might choose to scatter ashes in the crematorium remembrance garden.
There is an option to have the ashes delivered to your door for a further cost. When it comes to urns, there are many options available. We normally encourage clients to search on the internet, considering the range of available urns, and with our own particular preferences, we feel that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, and as there is generally no rush to do so, you can do all this at your convenient time, from the comfort of your own home.
Just call us.
We can normally do it all over the phone, followed up by email – we can video conference with you and if necessary, we could consider visiting you locally, in your own home. We can’t do this for everyone but if you have trouble leaving your house, we can consider coming over. But you can first get in touch with us to discuss your requirements.
Our caring and ethical method of planning a funeral or cremation is personally maintained by our funeral director, Philip, and his Wife Sallie, both of whom aim to provide you with a package that suits your needs completely. We believe this openness is extremely important, offering a distinct alternative to some of the other funeral companies. “Our dear family friend died in Hove on the 21st of February. As we live in the north of England, we went online to look for a credible funeral director in Hove.
We chose Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip . By the time we arrived in Hove, all the arrangements for the funeral had been made to our satisfaction, and any other help we needed was catered for to a very high standard. On a really sad day you supported us, allowing us the chance to recognise and support a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and dignity. — K. Sherlock.

|hospital or coroners||£799 plus disbursements|
|home or nursing home etc||£999 plus disbursements|
The price difference reflects the fact that those collected from a private home or nursing home resting in our premises for a period of time (sometimes up to a week or more ) until they are taken to the crematorium, whereas those from hospitals and coroners are usually only with us for a few days.
