Sussex Funeral Services in Fulking can help you with the necessary funeral arrangements after losing a loved one.
We have a range of choices, from our traditional funerals to the easiest, ‘no fuss’ choices that will hopefully meet your needs.
Our ‘No Fuss’ funerals and ‘Direct Cremation’ or burial’ options are radically different from the conventional funeral method. These simple options give you the choice of later holding a memorial or a special ceremony.
Direct cremation is not just a simple ceremony but it can also be private and worry-free financially. That is more affordable for many people. We still perform to the highest standards; we also guarantee that your loved one’s dignity will be upheld and we are work in the most respectful manner. The ethos of our company is described as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice.’
The choice of ‘direct cremation’ will benefit those who may be worrying about affordability or want a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.
Throughout , our sensitive staff will support you while upholding dignity and discretion. Direct cremation means a simple service which involves gathering your loved one from wherever they died, bringing them back to our premises and keeping them safe until cremation. On the day, in a suitable coffin, we will simply move them to the crematorium of our choosing, usually the Woodvale Crematorium in Brighton. The cremation then happens on that day, and the cremation remains usually ready for collection on the next working day.
This simple farewell is appropriate for those who want, of their own choice and either are recorded in a will or dying wishes, to be cremated without a service, or have verbally passed it on to their loved ones, perhaps after donating their body organ for example.
This may be that, for financial reasons, direct cremation is the best option, because the person who died did not prepare financially for his own death or, perhaps, the person left to manage is not in a position to be able to pay for the regular service. The deceased person may have had no relatives or friends who have survived them, or be able to attend due to distance and in this case, it seems inappropriate to provide a conventional service when a direct cremation would seem more suitable.
From £799 including disbursements (Cremation Fee plus Doctor Fee where applicable) – this selection includes the following:
Yes, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ – also known as a ‘Direct to Graveside’ service. A similar service, the dead is taken to a graveyard and buried, without a service, rather than being taken to the crematorium.
Burial choice price begins at £1,000 plus disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option covers the following:
The principle of direct cremation or burial is for little to no hassle to all parties, with a view to keeping issues to a minimum and, in particular, to keeping costs to a minimum. We notice that very few people even like to view. Possibly only 1 in 10 would like to see their loved one.
In this case, for an additional charge, we are in a position to give personal care to your loved one, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to embalm or use unnecessarily intrusive treatments unless we are required to do so by legislation or by formal request).
Returning to the idea of little or no hassle for both sides, and again, in order to keep things to a minimum, including prices, we usually ask clients to collect the ashes from the crematorium on their own. Or, instead, they may opt to scatter the ashes in the memorial garden at the crematorium.
There is the choice that the ashes can be shipped to your door at an extra cost. There are a variety of options open when it comes to urns. We normally encourage clients to search on the internet, considering the range of available urns, and with our own particular preferences, we feel that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, and as there is generally no rush to do so, you can do all this at your convenient time, from the comfort of your own home.
Just call us.
Normally, we can do that all over the phone, backed up by email – we can do a video conference with you, and if appropriate, we might consider meeting you personally, in your own house. We can’t do this for everyone but we can consider it if you have difficulties getting out and about your own home. But start by calling us to discuss your requirements.
Our caring and ethical method of planning a funeral or cremation is personally maintained by our funeral director, Philip, and his Wife Sallie, both of whom aim to provide you with a package that suits your needs completely. “Our good family friend passed away in Hove on 21 February. As we live in the north of England, we went online to look for a credible funeral director in Hove.
We chose Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip . By the time we arrived in Hove, all the preparations for the burial had been done to our satisfaction, and all other support we wanted was of a very high quality. On a really sad day, you assisted us, allowing us time to consider and remember a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and integrity. – K. Sherlock.

The price difference reflects the fact that those collected from a private home or nursing home resting in our premises for a period of time (sometimes up to a week or more ) until they are taken to the crematorium, whereas those from hospitals and coroners are usually only with us for a few days.
