In Vines-Cross, Sussex Funeral Services will assist you with the funeral plans following the death of a loved one. We have a variety of options from our traditional funerals to the simplest, ‘no fuss’ options that will hopefully fit your needs.
Our plans for ‘No-Fuss’ funerals and ‘Direct Cremation’ or ‘ Burial’ vary greatly from conventional funeral choices. These easy alternatives give you the possibility of holding a memorial or special ceremony at a later date.
Direct cremation is not just a simple ceremony but it can also be private and worry-free financially. This is more affordable for many people. We also uphold the highest standards; we continue to safeguard the dignity of your loved and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner. Our company ethos is defined as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’
The choice of ‘direct cremation’ will benefit those who may be worrying about affordability or want a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.
Our compassionate staff will always support you with dignity and discretion. Direct cremation means a simple service which involves gathering your loved one from wherever they died, bringing them back to our premises and keeping them safe until cremation. On that day, we simply transfer them to the crematorium of our choice, usually Woodvale Crematorium, in Brighton, in a suitable coffin. The cremation then happens on that day, and the cremation remains usually ready for collection on the next working day.
Such a simple farewell is suited to those who have opted to be cremated without a service, themselves, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have relayed it verbally to their loved ones, maybe following donation of their body organs for example. It may be that a direct cremation is best suited for financial purposes, either the person who died did not prepare financially for their own death or perhaps the person left to manage is not in a position to be able to pay for a conventional service. It could be that the deceased had no relatives or friends who had survived them or be able to attend due to distance and, in this situation, a conventional service may be unsuitable if a direct cremation would seem more suitable.
£799 plus expenses (Cremation Charge plus Doctor Payment if applicable) – this choice provides the following:
Sure, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ is also called the Direct to Graveside’ service. The deceased is taken to a cemetery and buried, without a ceremony, rather than being taken to the crematorium.
Burial option starting from Price £1,000 in addition to disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – this service involves the following:
For all sides, the notion of immediate cremation or burial is to reduce fuss, avoid issues and, in particular, keeping costs to a minimum. We discover that very few people really want to view. Perhaps 1 in 10 would like to come to view their loved one.
In this case, we can provide personal care of your loved one for an additional fee, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in their own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to preserve by embalming or use unnecessarily intrusive therapies unless we are required by law or formal request).
Going back to the concept of little or no fuss on all sides, and again, with a view to keeping things to a minimum, including costs, we normally ask clients to collect the ashes directly from the crematorium. Or, instead, they may opt to scatter the ashes in the memorial garden at the crematorium. There is the choice that the ashes can be shipped to your door at an extra cost. There are several options available for urns.
We typically suggest to clients to search for urns on the Internet as there are usually lots of choices to choose from, and with our own particular tastes, we find that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, and as there is usually no rush to do so, you can do all this in your time from the comfort of your own home.
Just call us.
Usually, we would do that all over the phone, followed by email – we can also do a video conference with you, and if necessary, we might discuss meeting you personally, in your own house. We can’t do this for everybody, but we do so if you’re having trouble getting out and leaving your home. But you can get started by calling to talk about your requirements.
Our caring and responsible approach to the organisation of funerals or cremations is handled directly by our funeral director, Philip, and his wife Sallie, who all aim to support you in your time of need with a package that fits your wishes. Sussex Funeral Services is very proud to deliver straightforward prices to follow our legal and moral standards of ethics. We totally believe that openness is incredibly necessary, providing a clear alternative to any of the other funeral companies. Sussex Funeral Services is one of the few Brighton Funeral Directors who, in the interests of integrity and transparency, want you to know about our funeral service options. Our direct burial and cremation funeral services are easy and dignified, offering you and your family a more fitting and inexpensive alternative.
Knowing how big the trauma of losing a loved one can be, we are committed to giving you the most fitting funeral for your circumstance. Our team are knowledgeable, compassionate, and mindful of how difficult a funeral can be for a family. Our attention is on honesty and integrity, and those suffering bereavements are all too often unaware of affordable and dignified direct funeral services that exist to help mitigate budgetary costs throughout this complicated and emotionally stressful period.
The reviews from our customers are of great importance to us.
We’d like to share some with you.
“Our very close family member died in Hove on 21 February. As we live in the north of England, we went on the website to search for a reputable funeral director in Hove. Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip was our pick.
By the time we arrived in Hove, all the arrangements for the funeral had been made to our satisfaction, and any other help we needed was catered for to a very high standard. On a really sad day you supported us, allowing us the chance to recognise and support a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and dignity. — K. Sherlock.
