Sussex Funeral Services in Redford can help you with the necessary funeral arrangements after losing a loved one. We have a range of choices, from our traditional funerals to the easiest, ‘no fuss’ choices that will hopefully meet your needs.
Our ‘No-Fuss’ funerals and ‘Direct cremation’ or Burial’ options differ significantly from the regular funeral option. These simple options give you the choice of later holding a memorial or a special ceremony.
Not only is direct cremation simple, but it is also be private and financially beneficial. This is more affordable for many people. We continue to maintain the highest standards, we continue to ensure that dignity is upheld for your loved one, and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner possible. Our company philosophy is defined as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’
Our ‘direct cremation’ option can help those who may need to think about affordability or want a smaller and more private arrangement for funeral.
Throughout , our sensitive staff will support you while upholding dignity and discretion. Direct cremation means a simple service which involves collecting your loved one from wherever they died, bringing them back to our premises and keeping them safe until their cremation day. On the day, in a suitable coffin, we will simply move them to the crematorium of our choosing, usually the Woodvale Crematorium in Brighton. The cremation then takes place on that day, with the remains being cremated and usually ready to collect by the next working day.
Such a simple farewell is suited to those who have opted to be cremated without a service, themselves, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have relayed it verbally to their loved ones, maybe following donation of their body organs for example. It may be that a direct cremation is the most appropriate for financial reasons, either because the person who died did not prepare financially for their own demise or indeed the person left to arrange is not in a position to be able to pay for a traditional service. It may be that the deceased person did not have any relatives or friends who outlived them , or be able to attend due to distance in this case, it will be inappropriate to provide a conventional service when direct cremation would seem more fitting.
From £799 including disbursements (Cremation Fee plus Doctor Fee where applicable) – this selection includes the following:
Indeed, our “Direct Burial” service is also known as the “Direct to Graveside” service. A similar service but rather than being taken to the crematorium, the deceased is taken to a cemetery and buried, without a service.
Burial choice price begins at £1,000 plus disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option covers the following:
The concept of direct cremation or burial was with little to no hassle with all sides, with the intention of keeping things to a minimum and, in particular, of keeping costs to a minimum. We notice that very few people even like to view. Possibly only 1 in 10 would like to see their loved one.
In that situation, we can provide personal care for your loved one for an extra fee, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in their own clothing or in sheets of calico cotton (we tend not to embalm or use unnecessarily intrusive procedures unless we are requested to do so by law or formal request).
Going back to the concept of little or no fuss on all sides, and again, with a view to keeping things to a minimum, including costs, we normally ask clients to collect the ashes directly from the crematorium. Or alternatively they might choose to have the ashes scattered in the garden of remembrance at the crematorium. There is the choice that the ashes can be shipped to your door at an extra cost. There is a variety of options open when it comes to urns.
We normally encourage clients to search on the internet, considering the range of available urns, and with our own particular preferences, we feel that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, and as there is generally no rush to do so, you can do all this at your convenient time, from the comfort of your own home.
Simply give us a call.
We can usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can video conference with you and we will consider visiting you personally, in your own house, if necessary. We won’t do this for everybody, so can consider that if you’re having trouble getting out and about your own house. But start by calling us to discuss your requirements.
Our caring and responsible approach to the organisation of funerals or cremations is handled directly by our funeral director, Philip, and his wife Sallie, who all aim to support you in your time of need with a package that fits your wishes. Sussex Funeral Services are very proud to offer transparent pricing to uphold our ethical and moral codes of conduct. We believe completely this honesty is very important, offering an unmistakable option to some of the other funeral homes. Sussex Funeral Services is one of the few Brighton Funeral Directors who want you to be informed in the name of decency and transparency, of all of our funeral service offerings. Our direct burial and cremation funeral options are easy and dignified, providing you and your family a more affordable option.
Knowing how big the trauma of losing a loved one can be, we are committed to giving you the most fitting funeral for your circumstance. Our team are trained, compassionate and understand how tough planning a funeral can be for a family or an individual. Our clients’ comments are of much importance to us.
We’d like to share them with you.
“A very dear family friend of ours passed away on the 21st of February in Hove. We went on the website to look for a respectable funeral director in Hove since we reside in the north of England. Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip was our pick.
By the time we arrived in Hove, all the burial plans had been rendered to our satisfaction and all other support we wanted was catered to a very high level. You helped us in a very sad day, giving us the time to remember and honour a loved one -you treated our Mum with such respect and dignity”. – K. Sherlock.
