Peasmarsh Cheap Funeral Directors

Sussex Funeral Services will assist you with the appropriate funeral arrangements in Peasmarsh, when it comes to the death of a loved one. We have a variety of options ranging from our traditional funerals to the simplest, ‘no fuss’ options, that hopefully will suit your needs.

Our ‘No-Fuss’ option and ‘Direct Cremation’ or Burial are totally different from the conventional funeral method. These easy alternatives give you the possibility of holding a memorial or special ceremony at a later date.

We Provide Direct Cremation & Burial Services

Direct Cremation

Direct cremation is not just a simple ceremony but it can also be private and worry-free financially. For many people it is more affordable. We still maintain the highest of standards, we still ensure that dignity for your loved one is upheld, and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner. Our company philosophy is defined as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’

What is Direct Cremation?

Our ‘direct cremation’ option can help those who may need to think about affordability or wish to have a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.

Our sensitive staff will gladly support you, while upholding dignity and discretion, throughout. Direct cremation means a simple service which involves gathering your loved one from wherever they died, bringing them back to our premises and keeping them safe until cremation. On that day, we simply transfer them to the crematorium of our choice, usually Woodvale Crematorium, in Brighton, in a suitable coffin. The cremation then takes place on that day, with the cremated ashes usually ready for you to collect on the next day.

Who is a direct cremation suited to?

Such a simple farewell is suited to those who have opted to be cremated without a service, themselves, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have relayed it verbally to their loved ones, maybe following donation of their body organs for example. For finance purposes, it may be that a direct cremation is best suited, because either the person who died did not plan himself financially or the person left to manage is not capable of paying for a conventional service. It may be that the deceased person did not have any relatives or friends who outlived them , or be able to attend due to distance in this case, it will be inappropriate to provide a conventional service when direct cremation would seem more fitting.

How Much Does a Direct Cremation cost and what does it include?

From £799, plus disbursements (cremation fee, plus Doctor Fee if applicable) – this option includes the following:

  • Collection of the body from a location within 10 miles (extra charges will be incurred for out of hours).
  • Conveying to a crematorium of our preference in our suitable vehicle.
  • Coffin made suitable for the cremation will be provided.

Is there a burial alternative?

Sure, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ is also called the Direct to Graveside’ service. A similar service, but rather than being cremated, the body is taken to the cemetery and buried without a service.

How much is the Direct Burial?

Burial option starting from Price £1,000 in addition to disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – this service involves the following:

  • Collection within 10 miles (extra hour costs apply).
  • Conveyance to the Brighton & Hove Burial ground in our Hearsette;
  • A coffin for burial.

What about dressing our loved one or viewings?

For all parties, the idea of immediate cremation or burial was for little to No Fuss, with a view to reducing issues and in particular bringing costs down to a minimum. We find that very few people even like to see the deceased. Maybe 1 in 10 would wish to come to see their loved one.

In such a case and for an additional cost, we are in a position to give personal care to your loved one, i.e. cleaning and dressing the body either in own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we do not carry out embalming or use unnecessarily invasive solutions unless we are obligated to do so by legislation or by formal request).

What happens after the cremation?

Going back to the concept of little or no fuss on all sides, and again, with a view to keeping things to a minimum, including costs, we normally ask clients to collect the ashes directly from the crematorium. Alternatively, they might choose to scatter ashes in the crematorium remembrance garden. There is the choice that the ashes can be shipped to your door at an extra cost. There are a number of options available when it comes to urns.

We generally tell clients to look on the internet for urns given the wide range of choices available, and we feel that choosing an urn is a more personal thing to do, based on individual tastes, and since there is usually no rush to do so, you can do all of this from the comfort of your own home in your time.

How do I arrange cremation?

Just call us.

We would usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can also do a video conferencing with you and, if required, we will consider visiting you at home. We can’t do this for everyone but we can consider it if you have difficulties getting out and about your own home. But start by calling us to discuss your requirements.

Testimonials

The comments made by our clients are of great value to us.

We would like some to share with you.

“Our dear family friend died in Hove on the 21st of February. We went on the website to search for a reputable funeral director in Hove as we live in the north of England. We selected Phillip of Sussex Funeral Services.

By the time we arrived in Hove, all the funeral arrangements had been made to our satisfaction, and any other assistance that we needed was catered to a very high standard. On a really sad day you supported us, allowing us the chance to recognise and support a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and dignity. — K. Sherlock.
