Sussex Funeral Services will assist you with the appropriate funeral arrangements in Nyton, when it comes to the death of a loved one. We have a variety of options ranging from our traditional funerals to the simplest, ‘no fuss’ options, that hopefully will suit your needs.
Our ‘No-Fuss’ option and ‘Direct Cremation’ or Burial are totally different from the conventional funeral method. These easy alternatives give you the possibility of holding a memorial or special ceremony at a later date.
Direct cremation not just a simple event, but it can also be private and easy on the finances. That is more affordable for many people. We continue to maintain the highest standards, we continue to ensure that dignity is upheld for your loved one, and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner possible. Our company’s philosophy is as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’
Our ‘direct cremation’ option will be more favourable to those who worry about affordability or wish to have a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.
Our sensitive staff will gladly support you, while upholding dignity and discretion, throughout. Direct cremation means that we will pick up your beloved from wherever they died and get them back to our premises to keep them safe until the day they are cremated. On that day, we simply transport them, in a fitting coffin, to the crematorium of our choosing, which is typically Woodvale Crematorium. The cremation then takes place on that day, with the remains being cremated and usually ready to collect by the next working day.
Such a humble send-off is suitable for those who have chosen to be cremated without a service, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have verbally relayed it to their loved ones, perhaps following, for example, donation of their body organs. It may be that a direct cremation is best suited for financial purposes, either the person who died did not prepare financially for their own death or perhaps the person left to manage is not in a position to be able to pay for a conventional service. The deceased person may have had no relatives or friends who have survived them, or be able to attend due to distance and in this case, it seems inappropriate to provide a conventional service when a direct cremation would seem more suitable.
£799 plus expenses (Cremation Charge plus Doctor Payment if applicable) – this choice provides the following:
Yes, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ – also known as a ‘Direct to Graveside’ service. A similar service, but rather than being cremated, the body is taken to the cemetery and buried without a service.
Burial option price starts at £1,000 plus disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option comes with the following:
The concept of direct cremation or burial was with little to no hassle with all sides, with the intention of keeping things to a minimum and, in particular, of keeping costs to a minimum. We find that very few people even like to see the deceased. Maybe 1 in 10 would wish to come to see their loved one.
In that situation, we can provide personal care for your loved one for an extra fee, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in their own clothing or in sheets of calico cotton (we tend not to embalm or use unnecessarily intrusive procedures unless we are requested to do so by law or formal request).
Going back to the idea of little or no hassle on all sides, and again, with a view to keeping it to a minimum, including expenses, we generally ask clients to collect the ashes directly from the crematorium. Or alternatively they might choose to have the ashes scattered in the garden of remembrance at the crematorium. There is the choice that the ashes can be shipped to your door at an extra cost. When it comes to urns, there are many options available.
We usually advise clients to look on the internet, given the choice of available urns, and we feel that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, given individual tastes, and since there is generally no rush to do so, you can do all this at your own convenience from the comfort of your home.
Just give us a call.
We can usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can video conference with you and we will consider visiting you personally, in your own house, if necessary. We can’t afford this for everybody, but if you have problems getting out and about your house, we will consider it. But you can get started by calling to talk about your requirements.

We’d like to share a few with you.
“Our dear family friend died in Hove on the 21st of February. We went on the website to look for a respectable funeral director in Hove since we reside in the north of England. Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip was our pick.
By the time we landed in Hove, all the burial arrangements had been carried out to our satisfaction, and all other help we wanted was catered for to a very high level. You helped us in a very sad day, giving us the time to remember and honour a loved one -you treated our Mum with such respect and dignity”. – K. Sherlock.
