Nep-Town Cheap Funeral Directors

In Nep-Town, Sussex Funeral Services will assist you in making the appropriate funeral arrangements for your loved one’s death. We have a range of choices, ranging from our traditional funerals to the easiest, ‘no frills’ choices that will hopefully be right for you.

Our ‘No-Fuss’ funerals and ‘Direct cremation’ or Burial’ options differ significantly from the regular funeral option. These simple options give you the choice of later holding a memorial or a special ceremony.

We Provide Direct Cremation & Burial Services

Direct Cremation

Not only is a direct cremation a simple occasion but it can also be private and worry-free in terms of finance. It’s more affordable to a lot of people. We also uphold the highest standards; we continue to safeguard the dignity of your loved and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner. Our company philosophy is defined as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’

What is Direct Cremation?

Our ‘direct cremation’ option will be more favourable to those who worry about affordability or wish to have a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.

Our sensitive staff will gladly help you throughout, while preserving dignity and discretion. Direct cremation means that we will pick up your beloved from wherever they died and get them back to our premises to keep them safe until the day they are cremated. On that day we simply convey them, in a suitable coffin, to the crematorium, of our choice, which is usually Woodvale Crematorium, in Brighton. The cremation takes place on that day and the cremated remains are usually available to be collected on the next working day.

Who is a direct cremation suited to?

Such a simple farewell is suited to those who have opted to be cremated without a service, themselves, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have relayed it verbally to their loved ones, maybe following donation of their body organs for example. It may be that a direct cremation is best suited for financial purposes, either the person who died did not prepare financially for their own death or perhaps the person left to manage is not in a position to be able to pay for a conventional service. The deceased person may have had no family or friends who have survived them or be able to attend due to distance, and in that case, it may be unfitting to have a regular service when a direct cremation might seem more appropriate.

How Much Does a Direct Cremation cost and what does it include?

£799 plus expenses (Cremation Charge plus Doctor Payment if applicable) – this choice provides the following:

  • Collection of the body from a place within 10 miles (extra charges may be incurred for out of hours).
  • Conveying to the crematorium of our choosing in our own car.
  • A coffin appropriate for cremation shall be given.

Is there a burial alternative?

Sure, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ is also called the Direct to Graveside’ service. A similar service but rather than being taken to the crematorium, the deceased is taken to a cemetery and buried, without a service.

How much is the Direct Burial?

Burial option starting from Price £1,000 in addition to disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – this service involves the following:

  • Collection within 10 miles (extra hour charges apply).
  • Collection to the Brighton & Hove Cemetery in Hearsette.
  • Coffin suitable for burial.

What about dressing our loved one or viewings?

The idea of the direct cremation or burial was for little or No Fuss for both parties, with a view to keeping things to a minimum and in particular to keep costs to a minimum. We find that very few people actually want to go through any viewing of the deceased. Maybe 1 in 10 might wish to come and see their loved one.

In which case – For an extra fee we are able to provide personal care of your loved one, i.e. cleansing and dressing the body either in own clothes or in calico cotton sheeting (we prefer not to embalm or use unnecessary invasive treatments unless we are obliged to do so by law or formal request).

What happens after the cremation?

Getting back to the idea of little or No Fuss for both parties, and again, with a view to keeping things to a minimum, including costs, we usually ask for clients to collect the ashes themselves from the crematorium. Alternatively, they might choose to scatter ashes in the crematorium remembrance garden. There is an opportunity, for a small additional cost, to have the ashes shipped to your house. When it comes to urns, there are many options available.

We generally tell clients to look on the internet for urns given the wide range of choices available, and we feel that choosing an urn is a more personal thing to do, based on individual tastes, and since there is usually no rush to do so, you can do all of this from the comfort of your own home in your time.

How do I arrange cremation?

Simply give us a call.

We would usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can also do a video conferencing with you and, if required, we will consider visiting you at home. We can’t afford this for everybody, but if you have problems getting out and about your house, we will consider it. But start by calling us to discuss your requirements.

Testimonials

Comments from our clients are of tremendous value to us.

We’d like to share some with you.

“Our dear family friend died in Hove on the 21st of February. We went on the website to search for a reputable funeral director in Hove as we live in the north of England. We chose Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip.

By the time we arrived in Hove, all the burial plans had been rendered to our satisfaction and all other support we wanted was catered to a very high level. On a very sad day you helped us, giving us time to remember and honour a loved one, you treated our mother with such esteem and respect. – K. Sherlock.

Phil from Sussex Funeral Services was absolutely fantastic in organising my Dad's funeral. He's done quite a few Hindu funerals before so knew exactly what we needed and organised everything on the short time we needed it done. Extremely professional and friendly.

I cannot recommend Sussex Funeral Services more highly. They handled all of our requests with great sensitivity and professionalism. Everything was explained clearly and in sufficient detail. Different service/cost options were discussed, and at no point did we feel unnecessarily overcharged. Nothing was too much trouble, they are lovely people and gave us really wonderful service.

Truly an amazing funeral directors. Helped us bury my dad when it was so difficult for us. Coming from a culturally diverse background, it was nice to have people who worked around us to ensure my dad had the best, rather than have us to confirm to the service. Service is what we experienced from other funeral directors, therefore we moved to Sussex Funeral Services. I highly recommend Sussex Funeral Services for a personalised service which is people focus and they will help work within your budget.

Philip,I just wanted to thank you formally for all your help in designing and delivering Joyce's funeral. I didn't really know how to go about choosing a funeral director, and I'm so glad I chose you. You gave extremely good advice about the design of the service. Throughout the process you have been very helpful and gave me a lot of reassurance through your obvious good planning, professionalism and expertise. And you provided me with great people to work with - Lisa with the flowers and, in particular, the wonderful Jen.I'm sure you know that this has been the most difficult time of my life. I'm very pleased with the way that the funeral went - as were all the people there. So you have my gratitude for making it a success and for the fact that the process was more pain free than I would have dared to imagine.Warm regards,Ed Hagger
