Nash-Street Cheap Funeral Directors

In Nash-Street, Sussex Funeral Services will assist you with the funeral plans following the death of a loved one. We have a range of choices, from our traditional funerals to the easiest, ‘no fuss’ choices that will hopefully meet your needs.

Our ‘No-Fuss’ Funerals and ‘Direct Cremation’ or Burial’ options differ from the traditional funeral option in a significant way. These simple options allow you to hold a memorial or special ceremony later on.

We Provide Direct Cremation & Burial Services

Direct Cremation

Not only is direct cremation a simple opportunity but it is also private and worry-free. For many people it is more affordable. We also uphold the highest standards; we continue to safeguard the dignity of your loved and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner. The ethos of our company is described as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice.’

What is Direct Cremation?

Our ‘direct cremation’ option will be more favourable to those who worry about affordability or wish to have a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.

Throughout , our sensitive staff will support you while upholding dignity and discretion. Direct cremation means a simple service that includes us taking your loved one from wherever they died, bringing them back to our premises and keeping them safe until the day they are cremated. On that day we simply convey them, in a suitable coffin, to the crematorium, of our choice, which is usually Woodvale Crematorium, in Brighton. The cremation then happens on that day, and the cremation remains usually ready for collection on the next working day.

Who is a direct cremation suited to?

Such a simple goodbye is appropriate for those who have opted to be cremated without a service, by their own preference and either recorded in a will or dying wishes, or they may have orally expressed it to their loved ones, maybe after, for example, donation of their body organs. For finance purposes, it may be that a direct cremation is best suited, because either the person who died did not plan himself financially or the person left to manage is not capable of paying for a conventional service. It could be that the deceased had no relatives or friends who had survived them or be able to attend due to distance and, in this situation, a conventional service may be unsuitable if a direct cremation would seem more suitable.

How Much Does a Direct Cremation cost and what does it include?

From £799, plus disbursements (cremation fee, plus Doctor Fee if applicable) – this option includes the following:

  • Collection of the body from a location within 10 miles (extra charges will be incurred for out of hours).
  • Conveying to a crematorium of our preference in our suitable vehicle.
  • Coffin ideal for cremation will be made available.

Is there a burial alternative?

Sure – our Direct Burial’ – also known as a service called Direct to Graveside’ is available. A similar service, but instead of being taken to the crematorium, the body is taken to the graveyard and buried without a service.

How much is the Direct Burial?

Burial option price starts at £1,000 plus disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option comes with the following:

  • 10-mile pick (extra charge will be charged for out of hours).
  • Moving to Brighton & Hove Graveyard in our Hearsette.
  • A coffin for burial.

What about dressing our loved one or viewings?

The concept of direct cremation or burial was with little to no hassle with all sides, with the intention of keeping things to a minimum and, in particular, of keeping costs to a minimum. We notice that very few people even like to view. Possibly only 1 in 10 would like to see their loved one.

In this case, we can provide personal care of your loved one for an additional fee, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in their own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to preserve by embalming or use unnecessarily intrusive therapies unless we are required by law or formal request).

What happens after the cremation?

Going back to the concept of little or no fuss on all sides, and again, with a view to keeping things to a minimum, including costs, we normally ask clients to collect the ashes directly from the crematorium. Or, instead, they may opt to scatter the ashes in the memorial garden at the crematorium. There is an opportunity, for a small additional cost, to have the ashes shipped to your house. There are a number of options available when it comes to urns.

We generally tell clients to look on the internet for urns given the wide range of choices available, and we feel that choosing an urn is a more personal thing to do, based on individual tastes, and since there is usually no rush to do so, you can do all of this from the comfort of your own home in your time.

How do I arrange cremation?

Simply give us a call.

We would usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can also do a video conferencing with you and, if required, we will consider visiting you at home. We can’t do this for everyone but if you have trouble leaving your house, we can consider coming over. But you can get started by calling to talk about your requirements.

Testimonials

The comments made by our clients are of great value to us.

We’d like to share them with you.

“A very dear family friend of ours passed away on the 21st of February in Hove. We went on the website to search for a reputable funeral director in Hove as we live in the north of England. We selected Phillip of Sussex Funeral Services.

By the time we arrived in Hove, all the burial plans had been rendered to our satisfaction and all other support we wanted was catered to a very high level. On a really sad day, you assisted us, allowing us time to consider and remember a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and integrity. – K. Sherlock.

Phil from Sussex Funeral Services was absolutely fantastic in organising my Dad's funeral. He's done quite a few Hindu funerals before so knew exactly what we needed and organised everything on the short time we needed it done. Extremely professional and friendly.

I cannot recommend Sussex Funeral Services more highly. They handled all of our requests with great sensitivity and professionalism. Everything was explained clearly and in sufficient detail. Different service/cost options were discussed, and at no point did we feel unnecessarily overcharged. Nothing was too much trouble, they are lovely people and gave us really wonderful service.

Truly an amazing funeral directors. Helped us bury my dad when it was so difficult for us. Coming from a culturally diverse background, it was nice to have people who worked around us to ensure my dad had the best, rather than have us to confirm to the service. Service is what we experienced from other funeral directors, therefore we moved to Sussex Funeral Services. I highly recommend Sussex Funeral Services for a personalised service which is people focus and they will help work within your budget.

Philip,I just wanted to thank you formally for all your help in designing and delivering Joyce's funeral. I didn't really know how to go about choosing a funeral director, and I'm so glad I chose you. You gave extremely good advice about the design of the service. Throughout the process you have been very helpful and gave me a lot of reassurance through your obvious good planning, professionalism and expertise. And you provided me with great people to work with - Lisa with the flowers and, in particular, the wonderful Jen.I'm sure you know that this has been the most difficult time of my life. I'm very pleased with the way that the funeral went - as were all the people there. So you have my gratitude for making it a success and for the fact that the process was more pain free than I would have dared to imagine.Warm regards,Ed Hagger
