In Lambs-Green, Sussex Funeral Services can help you with necessary funeral arrangements when it comes to the loss of a loved one. We have a wide range of choices from the more straightforward ‘no hassle’ choices to our conventional funeral services. We aim to fulfill your needs.
Our ‘No-Fuss’ option and ‘Direct Cremation’ or Burial are totally different from the conventional funeral method. These easy alternatives give you the possibility of holding a memorial or special ceremony at a later date.
Not only is a direct cremation a simple occasion but it can also be private and worry-free in terms of finance. This is more affordable for many people. We continue to maintain the highest standards, we continue to ensure that dignity is upheld for your loved one, and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner possible. Our company ethos is defined as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’
The choice of ‘direct cremation’ will benefit those who may be worrying about affordability or want a smaller and more private funeral arrangement.
Our compassionate staff will always support you with dignity and discretion. Direct cremation means that we will pick up your beloved from wherever they died and get them back to our premises to keep them safe until the day they are cremated. On that day, we simply move them to the crematorium of our choosing, normally Woodvale Crematorium, in Brighton, in a suitable coffin. The cremation takes place on that day and the cremated remains are usually available to be collected on the next working day.
Such a humble send-off is suitable for those who have chosen to be cremated without a service, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have verbally relayed it to their loved ones, perhaps following, for example, donation of their body organs. It may be that a direct cremation is the most appropriate for financial reasons, either because the person who died did not prepare financially for their own demise or indeed the person left to arrange is not in a position to be able to pay for a traditional service. The deceased person may have had no relatives or friends who have survived them, or be able to attend due to distance and in this case, it seems inappropriate to provide a conventional service when a direct cremation would seem more suitable.
Costs are from £799, plus disbursements which includes cremation fee plus Doctor’s fee where applicable – this option comes with the following:
Yes, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ – also known as a ‘Direct to Graveside’ service. The deceased is taken to a cemetery and buried, without a ceremony, rather than being taken to the crematorium.
Burial choice price begins at £1,000 plus disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option covers the following:
The principle of direct cremation or burial is for little to no hassle to all parties, with a view to keeping issues to a minimum and, in particular, to keeping costs to a minimum. We discover that very few people really want to view. Perhaps 1 in 10 would like to come to view their loved one.
In this case, we can provide personal care of your loved one for an additional fee, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in their own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to preserve by embalming or use unnecessarily intrusive therapies unless we are required by law or formal request).
Going back to the idea of little or no hassle on all sides, and again, with a view to keeping it to a minimum, including expenses, we generally ask clients to collect the ashes directly from the crematorium. Or they might choose to have the ashes scattered in the crematorium remembrance garden. The ashes can be delivered to your door for an extra fee. There is a variety of options open when it comes to urns.
We usually advise clients to look on the internet, given the choice of available urns, and we feel that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, given individual tastes, and since there is generally no rush to do so, you can do all this at your own convenience from the comfort of your home.
Just give us a call.
We would usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can also do a video conferencing with you and, if required, we will consider visiting you at home. We can’t do this for everyone but if you have trouble leaving your house, we can consider coming over. But start by calling us to discuss your requirements.
Our compassionate and ethical approach to arranging a funeral or cremation is upheld personally by our funeral director, Philip, and his wife Sallie, who both hope to help you in your time of need with a package that suits your wishes, completely. The comments our customers make are of great importance to us.
We’d like to share them with you.
“Our good family friend passed away in Hove on 21 February. As we live in the north of England, we went on the website to search for a reputable funeral director in Hove. We chose Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip.
By the time we arrived in Hove, all the arrangements for the funeral had been made to our satisfaction, and any other help we needed was catered for to a very high standard. On a very sad day you helped us, giving us time to remember and honour a loved one, you treated our mother with such esteem and respect. – K. Sherlock.
