Keymer Cheap Funeral Directors

Sussex Funeral Services will assist you with the appropriate funeral arrangements in Keymer, when it comes to the death of a loved one. We have a range of choices, from our traditional funerals to the easiest, ‘no fuss’ choices that will hopefully meet your needs.

Our ‘No-Fuss’ Funerals and ‘Direct Cremation’ or Burial’ options differ from the traditional funeral option in a significant way. These easy alternatives give you the chance to have a remembrance or special ceremony at a future date.

We Provide Direct Cremation & Burial Services

Direct Cremation

Direct cremation is not just a simple ceremony but it can also be private and worry-free financially. It’s more affordable for many people. We take our high standards very seriously; we also guarantee that your beloved’s dignity is upheld and we carry ourselves in the most respectful way. Our company’s philosophy is as ‘Caring, Compassion and Choice’

What is Direct Cremation?

Our ‘direct cremation’ option can help those who may need to think about affordability or want a smaller and more private arrangement for funeral.

Our compassionate staff will always support you with dignity and discretion. The direct cremation means a simple service that involves us collecting your loved one from wherever they died, bringing back to our premises and keeping them safe until the day of their cremation. On that day, we simply transfer them to the crematorium of our choice, usually Woodvale Crematorium, in Brighton, in a suitable coffin. The cremation then takes place on that day, with the remains being cremated and usually ready to collect by the next working day.

Who is a direct cremation suited to?

Such a humble send-off is suitable for those who have chosen to be cremated without a service, through their own choice and either documented in a will or dying wishes, or they may have verbally relayed it to their loved ones, perhaps following, for example, donation of their body organs. For finance purposes, it may be that a direct cremation is best suited, because either the person who died did not plan himself financially or the person left to manage is not capable of paying for a conventional service. The deceased person may have had no family or friends who have survived them or be able to attend due to distance, and in that case, it may be unfitting to have a regular service when a direct cremation might seem more appropriate.

How Much Does a Direct Cremation cost and what does it include?

£799 plus expenses (Cremation Charge plus Doctor Payment if applicable) – this choice provides the following:

  • Removal of the body from a place within 10 miles (additional fees will be paid for out of hours).
  • Conveying to the crematorium of our choosing in our own car.
  • Coffin ideal for cremation will be made available.

Is there a burial alternative?

Indeed, our “Direct Burial” service is also known as the “Direct to Graveside” service. The deceased is taken to a cemetery and buried, without a ceremony, rather than being taken to the crematorium.

How much is the Direct Burial?

Burial option starting from Price £1,000 in addition to disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – this service involves the following:

  • Collection within 10 miles (out of hours will incur an extra charge).
  • Moving to Brighton & Hove Graveyard in our Hearsette.
  • A coffin that is appropriate for burial.

What about dressing our loved one or viewings?

For all parties, the idea of immediate cremation or burial was for little to No Fuss, with a view to reducing issues and in particular bringing costs down to a minimum. We find that very few people even like to see the deceased. Maybe 1 in 10 would wish to come to see their loved one.

In this case, for an additional charge, we are in a position to give personal care to your loved one, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to embalm or use unnecessarily intrusive treatments unless we are required to do so by legislation or by formal request).

What happens after the cremation?

Getting back to the idea of little or No Fuss for both parties, and again, with a view to keeping things to a minimum, including costs, we usually ask for clients to collect the ashes themselves from the crematorium. Alternatively, they might choose to scatter ashes in the crematorium remembrance garden. There is an opportunity, for a small additional cost, to have the ashes shipped to your house. A variety of options are available when it comes to urns.

We typically suggest to clients to search for urns on the Internet as there are usually lots of choices to choose from, and with our own particular tastes, we find that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, and as there is usually no rush to do so, you can do all this in your time from the comfort of your own home.

How do I arrange cremation?

Just call us on the phone.

We would usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can also do a video conferencing with you and, if required, we will consider visiting you at home. We can’t do this for everyone but we can consider it if you have difficulties getting out and about your own home. But you can call us first let’s talk about your requirements.

Testimonials

Comments from our clients are of tremendous value to us.

We’d like to share a few with you.

“Our very close family member died in Hove on 21 February. We went on the website to search for a reputable funeral director in Hove as we live in the north of England. We selected Phillip of Sussex Funeral Services.

By the time we arrived in Hove, all the preparations for the burial had been done to our satisfaction, and all other support we wanted was of a very high quality. On a really sad day you supported us, allowing us the chance to recognise and support a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and dignity. — K. Sherlock.
