Fletching-Common Cheap Funeral Directors

In Fletching-Common, Sussex Funeral Services can help you with necessary funeral arrangements when it comes to the loss of a loved one. We have a range of choices, ranging from our traditional funerals to the easiest, ‘no frills’ choices that will hopefully be right for you.

Our ‘No-Fuss’ funerals and ‘Direct cremation’ or Burial’ options differ significantly from the regular funeral option. These simple options allow you to hold a memorial or special ceremony later on.

We Provide Direct Cremation & Burial Services

Direct Cremation

Direct cremation is not just a simple ceremony but it can also be private and worry-free financially. It’s more affordable for many people. We also uphold the highest standards; we continue to safeguard the dignity of your loved and that we conduct ourselves in the most respectful manner. Our company ethos is described as Caring, Compassion and Choice’

What is Direct Cremation?

Our choice of “direct cremation” will help you if you want a more limited, private funeral arrangement or indeed if you worry about affordability.

Our sensitive staff will gladly help you throughout, while preserving dignity and discretion. The direct cremation means a simple service that involves us collecting your loved one from wherever they died, bringing back to our premises and keeping them safe until the day of their cremation. On that day, we simply transport them, in a fitting coffin, to the crematorium of our choosing, which is typically Woodvale Crematorium. The cremation then takes place on that day, with the remains being cremated and usually ready to collect by the next working day.

Who is a direct cremation suited to?

Such a modest departure is appropriate to those who have elected to be cremated without service, by their own choice and either recorded in will or dying wishes, or who may have communicated it orally to their loved ones, perhaps after the donation of their body organs. This may be that, for financial reasons, direct cremation is the best option, because the person who died did not prepare financially for his own death or, perhaps, the person left to manage is not in a position to be able to pay for the regular service. It may be that the deceased person didn’t have any family or friends having outlived them, or able to attend due to distance and, in that case, it seems inappropriate to have a traditional service, when a direct cremation might seem more fitting.

How Much Does a Direct Cremation cost and what does it include?

From £799, plus disbursements (cremation fee, plus Doctor Fee if applicable) – this option includes the following:

  • Collection of the body from a location within a 10-mile radius (out of hours will be charged extra).
  • Conveying to the crematorium of our choosing in our adapted estate car.
  • Coffin made suitable for the cremation will be provided.

Is there a burial alternative?

Sure, there is – our ‘Direct Burial’ is also called the Direct to Graveside’ service. The deceased is taken to a cemetery and buried, without a ceremony, rather than being taken to the crematorium.

How much is the Direct Burial?

Burial selection starts from Price £1,000 including disbursements (burial plot and interment fee) – This option comes with the following:

  • Collection within 10 miles (extra hour costs apply).
  • Conveying to a Brighton & Hove Cemetery in our Hearsette.
  • Coffin suitable for burial.

What about dressing our loved one or viewings?

The principle of direct cremation or burial is for little to no hassle to all parties, with a view to keeping issues to a minimum and, in particular, to keeping costs to a minimum. We notice that very few people even like to view. Possibly only 1 in 10 would like to see their loved one.

In this case, we can provide personal care of your loved one for an additional fee, i.e. washing and dressing the body either in their own clothes or in calico cotton sheets (we tend not to preserve by embalming or use unnecessarily intrusive therapies unless we are required by law or formal request).

What happens after the cremation?

Returning to the idea of little or no fuss for both sides, and again, to keep things to a minimum, including expenditures, we usually ask clients to collect the ashes from the crematorium themselves. Or they might choose to have the ashes scattered in the crematorium remembrance garden. There is an opportunity, for a small additional cost, to have the ashes shipped to your house. There is a variety of options open when it comes to urns.

We typically suggest to clients to search for urns on the Internet as there are usually lots of choices to choose from, and with our own particular tastes, we find that picking an urn is a more personal thing to do, and as there is usually no rush to do so, you can do all this in your time from the comfort of your own home.

How do I arrange cremation?

Just call us.

We would usually do it all over the phone, followed by email – we can also do a video conferencing with you and, if required, we will consider visiting you at home. We won’t do this for everybody, so can consider that if you’re having trouble getting out and about your own house. But you can get started by calling to talk about your requirements.

Testimonials

The comments made by our clients are of great value to us.

We would like some to share with you.

“Our good family friend passed away in Hove on 21 February. We went to the website to find a respectable funeral director in Hove, as we reside in the north of England. We chose Sussex Funeral Services’ Phillip.

By the time we arrived in Hove, all the funeral arrangements had been made to our satisfaction, and any other assistance that we needed was catered to a very high standard. On a really sad day you supported us, allowing us the chance to recognise and support a loved one, you handled our mother with great reverence and dignity. — K. Sherlock.
